Tanna Evergreen Resort & Tours, (Tanna Evergreen Bungalows), Tanna Island

Tanna Evergreen Resort & Tours is the ongoing dream of Sam and Merian Numake. It all started in 1995, Sam, the son of Chief Tom Numake was at the time driving tours throughout Tanna Island. The couple could see the new airport being built and acquired the land for their venture.
“We saw the potential of establishing accommodation close to the airport and in 1996, commenced building; it took 2 years to establish a small restaurant, 4 shared facilities bungalows and our touring vehicles. Those days are long gone; we are now the largest 100% owned and operated Ni-Vanuatu Resort on Tanna Island and have been informed to be in the top three of Vanuatu, winning the Vanuatu Tourism Awards for "Best Bungalow" in 2006 and 2008.
Eco-tourism is natural to us, as protecting our land, sea and culture is essential to surviving on this island. But, as importantly, we want to encourage other Ni-Vanuatu’s to work for their individual and their country’s economic independence.
You could say, self reliance is our greatest motivation.”
